I missed the Greek festival with wine tastings!? I'm going to have to find those wines on my own to try myself then!
Interesting video. Where the Holy Spirit came from has never really worried me. I think that sometimes we can demand too much knowledge about God. This may be good for the Theologian, but perhaps for the layperson it might lead to confusion and the wrong conclusion. I say daily prayers to the Holy Trinity. I can't say I fully understand it, but I firmly believe in it.
Question: the Corinthians were called "carnal" by the apostle Paul yet spoke in tongues. Are the Monks on Athos not carnal enough for this gift? I word the question this way because it doesn't seem like extreme asceticism is required for any of the gifts listed in 1 cor 12-14 when one considers the carnality of the church the Apostle was writing. Thanks for this video.
Why bring ethnicity into it at all. Im German and Swedish American and Orthodox. Do i have to be Greek to go to your church? This why you are not effectively reaching Americans. There should be one Orthodox Church in America.
Pretty low bar!!! You get out of the Orthodox Church what you put into it.
I wish I could go everyday
I guess you forgot about the Old Testament oh wait that's right Christians don't read it anyway
these people arent even roman catholic you protestant
Repetition is boring. What is more important, church Liturgy and rituals or teaching Gods word. I am engaged and excited to learn more about the Lord from the teachings in the bible, and not to disrespect God I am not against giving praise to God, however I would think it would please God more for me to learn how to live my life to please God and not be bored out of my mind by and hour or more of just repetitive rituals. I can see people being turned away from coming to church because of the rituals and traditions that just take too long.

The question is backwards. Why did the Roman Catholics change the formula for finding the date of Easter from what was universally accepted at the First Ecumenical Council, which is when the formula for finding the date of Easter was established, specifically so that everyone would celebrate Easter on the same day? Typical Western chauvinism and arrogance! If they want to celebrate together with the Orthodox, then why don't they just un-change their innovation? They are the ones who originally introduced the different calendar, (in 1582, Pope Gregory XIII). If celebrating together on the same day is so important to them, let them go back to the original, Orthodox, way!

How difficult would it be to improve the Bible? Anyone in this room could improve this supposedly inerrant text scientifically, historically, ethically, spiritually - in moments. If God loves us and wanted to guide us with a book of morality, it’s very strange to have given us a book that supports slavery, that demands that we murder people for imaginary crimes like witchcraft. The true basis for hope in our world is open-ended conversation, and religion has shattered our world into competing moral communities. What we have to convince ourselves of is - that love and curiosity is enough for us - and intellectual honesty is the guardian of that. Sam Harris
Then we went to Greece [Constantinople], and the Greeks (including the Emperor himself) led us to the edifices where they worship their God, and we knew not whether we were in heaven or on earth. For on earth there is no such splendour or such beauty, and we are at a loss how to describe it. We only know that God dwells there among men, and their service is fairer than the ceremonies of other nations. For we cannot forget that beauty. Emissaries of Vladimir of Kyiv
@@user-dj1kl4sv6k Which means what?
Well without morals, we would be animals, and God didn't give us a book, He gave us a Church which from also came out a book, a book which in itself just words, just like any other book, what makes this book significant, is God's Empire the Church which uses it correctly to express the true morals that brings us, souls and bodies into living, not this temporary earthly life and falsities, but true and eternal life, with Our Creator, and Love itself, God☦️
@@marknagy4524 Have you read the book? Is slavery part of what you consider moral? Was the church moral when it was burning people at the stake? Is it moral now when it preaches against gay people and women? If we need morality can we get it from something more forward than the iron age?
@@marknagy4524 well put my friend, I couldn’t have said it better myself. God bless ☦️
Someone stole our gospel book from our temple and by a miracle it was returned. Glory to God in the highest.
Glory to God!
How come the book of revelation is not included?
Commonly revelation is not used in Divine Liturgy as there are prophecies yet to come and for other reasons y that you should ask a priest not some guy on the internet
@@HistoryEnjoyer3010 Why do you say that ? m Most learned men on the internet know more about the Bible than any priest does.
@@onejohn2.26. well first, he is a priest in the Holy Easter. Orthodox Church, not Roman Catholic. Second could you make your reply a little more readable
@@HistoryEnjoyer3010 Thanks for letting me know, that is the Google voice to text at it's finest. But my point Remains the same, whether Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox, they all teach a corrupted gospel and the exclusion of Revelation and of the so-called Old Testament just prove that point.

I'll stick with my Anglican Catholic Church which is the only true universal church and the clergy doesn't hide behind partitions partitions lije orthodox does, keeping it hush hush what theyre doing. In the Catholic church the body and blood of Christ are prepared in front of the parishioners so thry csn be part of it as well.
The Holy communion is "the Ritual cannibalism" "The New Testament jesus" in the Light of Old Testament is an impostor a Liar and some people also call him a Lunatic....And Christian missionaries believe that the opposite word for Lunatic is God so jesus is a god 😀 😄 The Book of Revelations is Based on an Anonymous Person's Dream, And in His Dream He saw (A Polycephaly) Multiple Heads Animal with Horns in and Horns out, Most probably that Dream occurred because of His excessive Eating 🍖🥩🥓🌭 and Drinking 🍺🍷🍾🍻🍸 .. How could christians Rely on such a Dream ?????

But almost one , and to his Nieces. To my brother Charles. To my dad in heaven and grand fathers as well. ( Thank you for the lovely Liturgy service, as always) May our Lord have Mercy on us all! Carol ( Catherine)
There is not even one Priest in Greece wearing a white collar! I'm surprised that this is even a thing that could be discussed for you (American) people! I think it's totally unacceptable. These things are for Roman Catholics! God forbid!
Greek here. I've never seen a priest wearing red or even white. All are wearing black and sometimes in rare occasions wear grey. It is not that some wear black and some grey. They all wear black and (very) rarely a few of them wear grey sometimes. But even them wear almost exclusively black. One more thing, I don't think there is even one high ierararchy priests wearing anything but black.

I don't hear that much of church mothers except the Theotokos. Can you tell me who else.

Hello from central Michigan!
Blessings to you and central Michigan! Welcome!
Junia was a FEMALE APOSTLE. It’s in the scripture. Women were called to prophesy. Jesus didn’t “ordain” anyone. Prophetic ministry was considered above even pastors… there so much here that shows men will always want to see this a certain way. This is gobelygook.

(Mark 12:38-40) And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the marketplaces, 39 And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost rooms at feasts: 40 Which devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater damnation.
IDOLATRY! If Christ is in you and and you are Christ’s no weapon can be formed against you. You’re are not warding off the devil by spitting. The devil is cunning and has people in his grip because they are a slave to sin and the devil.
"weeping icon" or not, it should not matter at all. It's far better to investigate the Bible as a whole (both it's past, forming, cultural significance, history, the different translations and it's content), then to stare one blind on "miraculous testimonies/statues/icon's". If you want a real answer about the religion the icon/statue represents, go dive into the Bible. An icon/statue will give you nothing of substance, only sensation (and a potential distraction). And when you investigate the Bible, wonder about who this "god" is, so that if you've completed everything, you can desrcibe this "god" in an honest way. Not a religious way, without confirmation bias. Question the morality, question the motifs, question yourself, question the human influence (those who say there is none are lying to themselves), question why something is claimed or why it would truly matter, question what you believe of seeing in the world and if it matches with what you find in that book, etc... *And the most important part, dare to be 100% honest.*
I love how the Greeks spent centuries trying to figure out how to become gods and then St. Paul came around like "lemme show ya how to do that!" Greek logic combined with God's truth has created something amazing here. It's a shame that India never came around in the same way, India is like a parallel civilization to Greece and also discovered how the cosmos worked, but they stayed pagan. An Orthodox India would be the most cosmically-awakened civilization on earth.
